A very underrated combination. Often people forget this combination which was often seen between 89-93 until Murali started to don lead roles. Two movies are more than enough to portray their brilliant chemistry. 'Lalsalam' and 'Dhanam'. Both Murali and Mohanlal are natural actors where Murali is the more expressive one especially with his sound modulation. The unique factor of this chemistry despite of portraying friendship is because there isn't an element of comedy in their friendship. Its mostly serious and you can see Mohanlal in a serious mode whenever he acts with Murali which is a pleasant change from his usual romantic-comedies during that era. A special movie which shown the other side of their chemistry other than friendship was 'Varavelppu' where Murali had to portray the role of the antagonist. A moment to remember that great actor.
A special one. We know Innocent is a special actor owning special mannerisms and special style of dialogue delivery. But both these actors were able set the screen on fire with their unique comic timing in films like 'Vietnam Colony', 'Naddodikaatu', 'Kilukkam' and 'Aram+Aram=Kinnaram'. I personally felt their best performance came in 'Devasuram' where both actors played roles which is quite unusual to them, atleast Innocent. Innocent had to play the role of friend as well as father like figure to Mohanlal's character and he portrayed it effortlessly and thus opened a new door to their combination.
