Mani Ratnam about Mohanlal


Mohanlal, the magical actor of Mollywood has a huge fan following among both the common audiences and film fraternity. In a recent interview, veteran film-maker Mani Ratnam openly admitted his deep admiration for Mohanlal.

Mani Ratnam, who was talking in the web interview 'Uraiyadal & Stuff' hosted by film-maker Gautham Menon, stated that working with Mohanlal was an excellent experience. He opined that it is a pleasure to have an actor like him, in front of your camera.




According to Mani Ratnam, Mohanlal is an actor who believes in uncertainties and has a special ability to surprise his director during the final shot, by adding some new elements to his performance. He doesn't believe in pre-planning a scene.




It is the minute details he adds to his performance, which makes Mohanlal special, and different from his contemporaries. Mani Ratnam also added that Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan are the two actors who awed with their performances.


Mohanlal made his lead role debut in Tamil, with the Mani Ratnam movie "Iruvar", in 1997. The complete actor essayed the role of Aanandan, a character which was inspired by the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MGR, in the highly acclaimed movie.
